Willem HeemskerkSecretaryWillem HeemskerkSecretaryWillem Heemskerk, poultry processing researcher of Meyn Food Processing Technology B.V, earned his MSc degree in Food Science at the Agricultural University of Wageningen (Netherlands) in 1987. In 1988 he was hired by MEYN as a food technologist, with a focus on food safety, animal welfare, process yield and product quality. That job brought him to poultry processing plants in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, N-America, S-America and Australia. He has held several presentations during scientific meetings and for customers. A further present focus is on making relevant scientific publications useful for MEYN.
He is a member of the World Poultry Science Association (WPSA) and a former member of the Board of WPSA Dutch Branch (2010-2016). In 2000 he joined the European Working Group 5 (on Quality of poultry meat). In 2018 Willem was appointed as secretary of WPSA’s Foundation for the Promotion of Poultry Science (FPPS). -

A native of France, Vincent obtained the degree of Doctor in Veterinary Medicine in 1987 in Lyon, France and a Ph.D degree in Poultry Science from The University of Georgia, Athens, GA, USA in 1991. He was accepted as a diplomate of the American College of Poultry Veterinarians (US board certification) in 1994.
During his career, Vincent has worked closely with the Poultry sector, first from the Animal Health side with Pfizer Animal Health (now Zoetis) and then from the production and food processing side with Burnbrae Farms Ltd. Vincent has worked in the area of New Product Development, International Market Development and Quality Assurance for the largest integrated egg producer and processor (grading, breaking and further processing) in Canada. Concurrently, he has served as the scientific advisor for the International Egg Commission (London, UK), working with intergovernmental organizations (OIE, FAO, World Bank) on global issues such as animal welfare, greenhouse gas emissions, food safety, nutrition and food security and the overall sustainability of animal production.
As part of FFI Consulting Ltd., Vincent is a consultant to the Poultry sector, with emphasis on egg production, market development and the role of eggs in human nutrition. His work also focuses on international development programs to assist poultry farmers to further contribute to the challenges of global food security and nutrition, taking him to countries like Kenya, Mozambique and Rwanda where egg consumption is extremely low.
Vincent has authored 4 book chapters, several peer-reviewed scientific papers and is a regular guest speaker at international conferences. Vincent also enjoys teaching Poultry science and egg-related food science topics and has been a guest lecturer at the World Veterinary Education in Production Animal Health (WVEAPH), Jilin University, Beijing Agriculture University, China Agricultural University and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (China). -

Aidan Connolly graduated with a Master’s in International Marketing from the Smurfit School of Business, University College Dublin, Ireland. He previously worked with Alltech for more than 25 years, initially in Ireland, and then based in France, Brazil and the United States. He has travelled for business to over 100 countries including most recently extensively in China. From 2002 until 2008, Connolly held the position of Vice President of Alltech Europe, then to Washington DC as VP of Corporate Accounts. . As Chief Innovation Officer Connolly was responsible for the commercialization of Alltech’s global research in addition to continuing corporate account strategy within Alltech.
His expertise is in branding, agriculture and international marketing. Connolly is an adjunct professor of marketing at University College Dublin and visiting professor at the China Agricultural University. He is a former member of the European FEFANA organization and the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA).
Connolly is responsible for the highly anticipated Alltech Global Feed Survey, which is released annually. He has also led the implementation of the Pearse Lyons Accelerator, a late-stage, agri-tech accelerator run by Alltech and Dogpatch Labs, which received over 200 applications from more than 30 countries. -

From 1990 to 1997, Curtis had various responsibilities with Solvay Animal Health ending with the position of International Business Manager focusing heavily on swine and poultry biologicals. From 1998 to 2011, Curtis supported Alpharma and the development of the medicated feed additive industry. Curtis was the General Manager for Alpharma’s Asia Pacific business from 2007 to 2011 overseeing the commercial and local manufacturing sites. In 2011, Pfizer purchased Alpharma and Curtis remained, leading the Asia Pacific Regional Marketing team for swine & poultry. In total, Curtis supported the Asia Pacific markets for 8.5 years before returning to the US to lead the BioDevice and Automation business for Zoetis. -

Dr. Zhinong Yan is the Executive Director of the Walmart Food Safety Collaboration Center (WFSCC). He leads a team that promotes the development of food safety in China through stakeholder collaboration in the three areas of food safety innovation, education and policy support.
Dr. Yan has over 30 years of academic and industry experience in microbiology and food safety. His experience spans the entire food supply chain from farm to table. His expertise includes analysis and overall solution against the occurrence, contamination, traceability and control of foodborne risk factors during the stages of production, processing, retail and catering for grain, meat, fruits, vegetables, and snack foods; Dr. Yan has extensive experience in microbiological inspections, analysis, monitoring and control of food processing equipment during production and in the business environment; recent work focuses on the application of innovative technologies to improve food safety, promote food safety education, and research and exchange of policies and regulations. He has published over 30 research papers and book chapters.
Dr. Yan was previous the Asia-Pacific Food Safety Director for Ecolab. Prior to this he also worked at a food processing equipment firm and a food safety consultancy. He has provided food safety services for over 150 food processing plants in more than 20 countries in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. He has designed and conducted over 200 training sessions on enterprise food hygiene and safety.
Dr. Yan received his BSc. and MSc. in plant pathology from China Agricultural University in 1988 and 1994 respectively, and his PhD from Auburn University in 2000. He completed his postdoctoral research at the University of Georgia, and Michigan State University where he also served as an assistant professor in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. He was formerly the Vice Chair of the International Association on Food Protection’s (IAFP) Food Hygiene and Sanitation Professional Development Group, as well as the founder and two-time Chairman of the North American Chinese Association for Food Protection. Dr. Yan is currently Vice Chair of the Global Food Safety Initiative’s (GFSI) China Steering Committee, Chairperson for AFP China, Vice President of China Animal Health and Food Safety Alliance, and Expert Advisor of Food Safety Committee of the China Chain-Store & Franchise Association (CCFA) and China Children Food Safety Program of China Children and Teenage Foundation(CCTF). -
